1% Improvements for Teaching Online

Every two weeks, I will post short and application-focused tips to help continually refine and polish your teaching online. I hope these short emails will spark new ideas, elicit questions, and, ultimately, improve your online courses.

I recently re-read James Clear's Atomic Habits and one of his key ideas is 1% improvements. He says, "It is so easy to overestimate the importance of one defining moment and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis." This has always been my philosophy in leading the online learning team. How can we consistently make small improvements that make a significant impact down the road?

We have the best online learning program in theological education. This excellence begins with you, those in the trenches teaching each term, taking time from your schedules to develop courses, and connecting with our students. Without you, our students around the world, who are currently in ministry, would not be able to receive the world-class education they are receiving right now. For this, I am genuinely thankful.

These posts are meant to be encouraging. I hope you can add one small piece to your teaching. This will ultimately make a big impact down the road.

If there is ever anything myself or the online team can help you with, don't hesitate to reach out.
